Eucharistic Ministers are members of the parish who assist in the distribution of the Eucharist. Typically, Eucharistic Ministers can also distribute Holy Communion to those in prison, or to those who are sick and unable or incapable of attending the Mass, thereby providing love, support, and care to others. Technically, Eucharistic Ministers are "Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion" (the "ordinary" ministers are priests and deacons).
We at Holy Name of Jesus are a "Eucharistic-centered parish", meaning that everything we do as a church embraces the Eucharist as the Source and Summit of our faith. Therefore, we take seriously the role of those people who aid the priest and deacons in the distribution of Holy Communion, Body and Blood of the Lord.
Please contact the Extraordinary Ministers Coordinator if you are interested in being a part of this ministry at any of our weekend Masses!
